Our Year 11 Citizenship Student Leaders have been working outstandingly hard over the last half term and into this one on their first 'Make A Difference- Go M.A.D' campaign! Headed up by Emma Farrar, Eli Baird and Emily Lawton, they have collected some fantastic donations from students and staff across the school and on Monday 20 January got together to decide how to distribute it between the Salvation Army and one of our Year 7 student's aims to raise money to support a Newcastle hospital.
We are very proud of all the Student Leaders involved in this project and the hard work and initiative they have shown. Well done everyone, and a great big 'thank you' to anybody who donated to support them! |

This is the fourth year that we have offered the Extended Project Qualification, which requires students to conduct a piece of research into a topic of their choice. Once again, we have achieved outstanding results with 55% of our students achieving an A-B grade. We are particularly delighted that four of our students gained an A*grade: Amelie Cowan [the prevention of 'Milk Fever' in cows] James Harkin, [quantum entanglement] Lucy Martin, [the use of transistors in nanotechnology] and David Sharples [who was commissioned to produce art work by the Head of School, Louise Spellman].
The project coordinator Paul Webster stated that research of this calibre demonstrates the incredibly high ability of the students in Conyers Sixth Form. "We are incredibly proud of our students' achievements. We are also heartened by their passion and interest in current affairs and social issues." |

On Wednesday 14 December, 20 Year 6 students from Layfield Primary school attended a Christmas party hosted by a group of Year 10 students as part of their Life Skills course. Both students and staff had a lovely afternoon, playing games, enjoying festive activities and meeting each other. The Year 10 students were a credit to the school and they would like to thank everybody who contributed to helping them. |
Members of the school's orchestra and choir performed at Yarm's Christmas carol service and lighting of the tree ceremony on Sunday 11 December. |
